Mistaken Identities

Tue, Jan 4, 1994 through Fri, Feb 11, 1994

This multi-media exhibition synthesizes and integrates existing scholarship and theory on issues of identity in contemporary art practice . The show specifically explores problems of identity in ways that question, problematize, or refuse the fixities of what are now termed identity polities (racial, ethnic, sexual, national, etc.). Rather than affirming notions of feminine, black, or gay aesthetics, for example, these artists are instead posing the question of what purposes such designations might serve.

Events and exhibitions are free and open to the public unless stated otherwise. Visitor information
