Decades of Giving: Virginia Wright and Sculpture at Western
The exhibition features the generous contributions of the Seattle art patron Virginia Wright in three areas: her outright gifts to the Outdoor Sculpture Collection, the drawings made by sculptors, and the loans she has made to the university and the Western Gallery. Since the early seventies the Virginia Wright Fund has donated to Western seven stellar works by Mark Di Suvero, Anthony Caro, Richard Serra, Nancy Holt (partial gift), Robert Maki (class 1962), Donald Judd and recently Bruce Nauman. Through these gifts and the founding of the Washington Art Consortium Collections, Wright has contributed to Western's national reputation in the visual arts. The exhibition was organized for the Nauman dedication.
