(un)known - Art Studio BFA Exhibition 2016
Exhibition of works by BFA Candidates, 2016. In their curatorial statement, Kristine Olsen and April Thompson say: "The University degree is imbued with the mystique of “knowledge.” One enters a program with the preconceived expectation they will emerge with a qualification– an acronym to index that knowledge. The depth of this work stemmed from an unabashed “not knowing” which in turn lead to bold explorations. It is often what we do not know—the gaps in our experience, memory and knowledge—that prompts investigation. These artists probe such gaps in ways that are not confined to mediums or the history of art, but also feature intensely emotional and personal questions regarding identity, culture and experience."
