Mary Erickson is a media educator, writer, researcher, film professional and arts advocate. She has over 15 years of experience in various capacities in the arts and film, working in publicity and promotions, production and education. Over the last decade Erickson has been building an academic portfolio of research about regional and international audiovisual media. The intersection of culture and economics in media underlies her research agenda, as does the impact of technology in the historical context of audiovisual media. Erickson’s experience as a media educator complements this research and her teaching as she emphasizes the contexts in which media is produced: cultural, political, economic, historical.

The Perspectives Series brings together scholars from a range of backgrounds and interests to lead informal 45-minute discussions of topics conjured by the art installations.

Part of the exhibition KNOWLEDGE BENNETT: ROAD TO DAMASCUS at the Western Gallery through May 2.
