Dance for Social Justice: Image, Gesture, Text

three dancers leap upward, backs arched. Center dancer reaching. Black paintings behind frame each.
Thursday, March 5, 2020 - 11:30am to 12:30pm
Fine Arts Building 124 - Western Gallery

Contemporary dancers studying under Susan Haines investigate how imagery in and of the body can be utilized in social justice dance making. The students will create dance for social justice performance pieces, based on ideas Knowledge Bennett expresses in the exhibition "Road to Damascus." The informal performance will include short performance pieces-solos, duets, trios.

The event is free and open to the public.

Part of the exhibition KNOWLEDGE BENNETT: ROAD TO DAMASCUS at the Western Gallery through May 2.
