Renowned artist Luis Camnitzer will give a keynote address on the pedagogy of art. Visual, dance and theater artists will engage the audience in creative approaches they use in their education-oriented art projects.

Image Theatre: This interactive, participatory workshop introduces Image Theatre techniques, first developed by Augusto Boal in his Theatre of the Oppressed work, as a pedagogically radical approach to generating engaged group dialogue, creative participation and actionable ideas."

3:15-4:00 - Kristina Lee Podesva, artist, and Lummi language teacher William John. Conversation – Lummi words/concepts of learning and teaching
3:40-4:10 - Andrew Brown, Assistant Professor of Performance Art, Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies. Pedagogy of the Everyday – This participatory workshop will engage specifically with architectures of higher education. How does space teach us how to learn and what learning can and should look like? What interpersonal power dynamics within education are shaped by the very spaces we learn within and move through? Brown will give an overview of the concepts this workshop explores, demonstrate these concepts within their own creative practice, and guide participants in small group explorations of spatial pedagogy.
